SUMMER FISHING

SUMMER FISHING

I love the sea
I revel being out there
under the sky above the water

Tingling sensual pleasure
stimulated there
that place
in a boat
on the water

I mean on the water
so close that I reach down
trailing my fingers
through the waves

The feel of
sun
wind
rain
on my face

The sound of water
splishing
sploshing
bibbling
bobbling
splashing against the hull

The screeching call
seabirds
swoop and fly
dip and dive
over and over

The smell of the sea
utterly utterly
clean
fresh
briny

The taste of salt on my lips

Seeing
colours
in kaleidoscope
of sparkle
and glint

I am
fully alive
open to
exhilaration
of nature

I daydream
holding the heat
of the sun
on my face
eyes closed

As I look
into the dark
fathomless
depths
of the sea

I imagine what lies beneath.
