Trees laden with deliciously mellow fruit. Standing there below the tree, looking upwards, taking shelter from the heat and glare of the golden sun. Feel tempted to pluck one? Taste its juicy ripeness. Take in the delicate yet heady aroma.

Several layers of pure gold leaf have been applied giving the impression that these sumptuous fruits have been painted directly on to gold. In Byzantine art - gold-ground paintings - gold leaf was used to compose the background making the figures appear to float against a heavenly sky.

And now I have started to paint flowers too!
